St. Don Bosco feast day sacristy tale

This morning was a very special morning; St. Don (John) Bosco's feast day!  we were late getting out the door, but we got there eight minutes early. It was Fr. Joe this morning, so I set two cinctures up ( green and white). When Fr. Joe came in he said "White" pointing to my waist. So I put the white one on. Now fast forward to the end!! While I was un-vesting Miss Rita, Miss Jean and Mr. Tim were talking about the marriage rally last night. Miss Jean said she was talking to her daughter last night, who  was watching the news. Then she fell asleep; When she woke up and looked at the T.V and they were showing the pastor live  speaking against the marriage bill!! I dropped my alb and said " The pastor was on T.V??? (I didn't say it quite like that)". Miss Jean asked me if I was there last night. I said,  "no, but my parents were there". Stay tuned till Thursday.

boring sacristy tale

This morning's sacristy tale is going to be very boring. So Mr. Mark was there when I walked in, Miss Paula was in the back sacristy. I got ready, lit the candles. While I was lighting the candles, the pastor came in. When I was done the pastor walked out to do the divine office. Fr. Joe came in right after that, he was con-celebrating . The pastor came in and said " maybe I should come in early so I don't have two minutes of the divine office (he started the divine office two minutes before mass)". Stay tuned

Hi everybody! I just wanted to tell you, there will be no sacristy tale today. I didn't feel like serving this morning :(. There will be a sacristy tale Monday.

Friday sacristy

Hi everyone! Sorry I'm so late in writing. There was just nothing interesting to write about (now to the sacristy tale). This morning I couldn't find alb number 26. Guess where it was? That's right! In front of all the albs. Then Dad came in to the back sacristy and showed me a shirt he found in the lost and found " How did my shirt get here? I didn't even no it was missing! (FYI The shirt looked like his. It was a Georgetown shirt) I asked "Where did that come from" He answered " I have no idea but I'm taking it home" I didn't take him seriously. Then I lit the candles. When I took the candle lighter, something felt weird. Then I remembered when I altar served Sunday mass last Sunday. The girl who was extinguishing the candles Had come in the sacristy when she was done, she put the candle lighter back on it's hook then I heard, BANG! THE CANDLE LIGHTER BROKE IN TWO!!!!!! :( So any way I lit the candles; Miss Paula came in and then Fr. Friday sacristy

Hi everyone! Sorry I didn't put this out earlier, I was too busy :(. So anyway, this morning,it was Fr. Joe. Again! Today is St. Sebastian's feast day, and he was a martyr. So I wore the red cincture :)! Right before we were going to start mass, Fr. Joe did something weird with my cincture. He tied it incorrectly (when it was already correct) so I served the whole mass looking like an idiot :(. I'm serving tonight, But I'm not going to serve tomorrow :(. Stay tuned (till tonight) :)

Another loss...

Is  in the books for the Lakers :). I can't believe Kobe and his Lakers gave it up! LeBron had the  flu, but he still played :). He only scored 31 points (since he had to pass it a lot) Chris Bosh had 15 points and 8 rebounds. Shane Battier had 11 points and 6 rebounds. This morning, the Monsignor celebrated. He was kind of late, but then again he's always late :). Since the Monsignor  was late and he had the church key so everybody was freezing and I kept yelling "C'MON PEOPLE!! LET'S GO TO THE CHURCH IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD (that church was celebrating the new mass
)! But the Monsignor showed up and everybody cheered. Stay tuned :)

...THE HEAT GET A WIN!!!!!!! :) :) The Heat came back in the third quarter to take it home, now to the stats: LeBron had 33 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds. Chris Bosh had 30 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Mike Miller had 18 points and Joel Anthony had one AWESOME slammer you have to see! Embarassing sacristy tale

OK! This morning's sacristy tale is embarrassing! Fr. Joe was the celebrant this morning, and he likes to start early. So while I was getting vested, Fr. Joe had put on a white chasuble. I thought that was strange; he never celebrates the feast day (today is St. Anthony's feast day) and then I found out that the feast day wasn't optional, and I had put on a green cincture for nothing! I had no time to change it so mass started.  FAST FOWARD! I have a kneeler which I use during the Eucharistic prayer. And before the sign of peace I forgot to put it away! Stay tuned for tomor.... oh wait I'm not serving tomorrow lol

Weird sacristy tale

This morning started out weird! Dad was trying to wake me up. I woke up. eventually!  I ate breakfast, got dressed and brushed my teeth. Dad was waiting for me, so I got my coat on, and got in the car, but the car had frost on it :(. So then Dad cleared the frost and we were half way down the street when Dad said " I forgot my contact lenses!! I can't see!!!  We went back in the house and got Dad's contact lenses. We got to church on time, and a surprise greeted me! The alb that I use all the time(number 26) had a cincture and cross ready for me! Miss Paula had done that. But how had she known i wore number 26? Deacon Jack came in, and we started talking about the Ravens' win yesterday. He told me we weren't gonna make it, I told him "what if the Ravens win the AFC championship and  the 49ers win the NFC championship and make it to the super bowl, Then it would be a big Harbaugh bowl! And if the Giants win the NFC championship, it would be the 2000 season all over again" That's when Fr. Raymond came in. Stay tuned for tomorrow :)

Sunday sacristy tale

This morning, I had to wake up early this morning cause I served the 7:30 mass. First I went to confession in this morning. Then I went to vest, then I Lit the candles, Lisa came in while i was lighting the candles. Then Faith came in, and I noticed she was shorter then last time. My dad couldn't believe I was taller then a high school kid! The pastor was the celebrant this morning. He asked who the cross bearer was. Both girls pointed to me. I said "when all three  of us are serving, why do I have to be cross bearer???" The pastor said "Xavier's right, why can't one of you be cross bearer?" so I said i'd be cross bearer was ! stay tuned for tomorrow :)

Football awards

This afternoon, Paul had football awards  And I forgot to bring the camera :(. But it was fun, i could only stay for 2 hours; but to my surprise, the football awards ended faster then I expected! Paul got an award signed by John Harbaugh (Baltimore Ravens head coach). I'll post a picture of Paul, his award and trophy

Another loss...

...is in the books for the Heat! Nuggets 117, Heat 104 :(. LeBron James had 35 points (I'm surprised he didn't do a lot in this game! That's not like him) and Chris Bosh had 17 points. D.Wade had a  great game; he put up a lot of numbers on the board then he injured his ankle :(.  But here are the numbers he put on the board: 12 Points and  6 assists. Today's sacristy tale

This morning,I got to church real early, cause I thought Fr, Joe was the celebrant today. So when I got there, no one was there! Then Deacon Jack came in, we just talked. Then Fr. Raymond came in and we started Benediction. I didn't know it, but there was a fellow altar server in the congregation. I usually check for fellow altar servers because I serve every day of the week, and the rest of the altar servers don't even know it :)! But I noticed her when I walked out of the sacristy to start mass.  But everything worked out okay! I'm serving tomorrow, and I'll do a report :)

  Last night I didn't get any sleep so  mom thought I wasn't going to serve But I got to serve :). I was running a little late but I got there 4 minutes before mass started. When  I got there the pastor was there; he wasn't on the schedule which I thought was strange. I asked him if he was the celebrant today he said "No. Con-celebrant" So I got ready and just in time too; Fr. Raymond walked in. And then mass started! That's today's sacristy tale! Stay tuned

The Heat lost to the Los Angeles Clippers last night :( :(. LeBron James had 23points, 13rebounds and 7 assist and D.Wade had 3 steals. You know, it seems like LeBron James is doing all the scoring for the Heat. C'mon LeBron!!! Ya got 4 other guys out on the court! USE'M and might get a basket :). The Heat will beat the Denver Nuggets on Friday. GOOOOOOO HEAT

TLM sacristy tale

This morning, I served the TLM (Traditional Latin Mass). The pastor was the celebrant today. I was afraid I was going to  be late today :(, but I showed up 10 minutes before mass :). Danny wasn't there when I got there as his mom's car had a flat tire. Matt was there and we were originally going to serve, but Danny showed up at the last second. Matt said "why don't you two serve? I want to see how well you two do together". Was Matt kidding??? This was going to be easy!!!!!! I had served with Danny's older brother, James once. Mass started.
 And at the end we were singing The First Noel. The pastor started it a little too high, then he lowered it (the key). AND THEN THE WHOLE CONGREGATION TURNED INTO A CHORUS!!!!!!!!!! The reason I said that is that some people sang on the note the pastor started on, and some people sang on the lowered key :D lol. If you're asking why we sang a Christmas carol, in the new church calendar, we celebrate ordinary time, in the old church calendar, we're still in the octave of Epiphany. ;)

This morning

 ...I served mass. So when i got there, Mr. Walt was there. I  vested. We were talking how it was so freezing in the church; I was just FREEZING because the timer on the boiler wasn't working and it wasn't even on at the end of mass! Fr. Matt was late....again. But mass started nutin' interesting happened. (except that bread and wine miraculously turned in to the body, blood, soul and divinity of our lord Jesus Christ)

Mad libs

My bro likes to do Mad libs to warm up for grammar. Here's this morning's: A visit to the zoo!

Zoos are places where wild BIG SCREEN T.V.s are kept in pens or cages so that PEPPER SPRAY BOTTLES can come and look at them.  There are two zoos in New York, one in the Bronx and one in FURRY Park.  The Park zoo is built around a large pond filled with clear sparkling ORANGE JUICE.  You will see several MICE swimming in the pond and eating fish.  When it is feeding time, all of the animals make HIGH noises.  The elephant goes TICK-TOCK-TICK-TOCK and the turtledoves go TILLILIILILLI.  In one part of the zoo, there are FROZEN gorillas who love to eat CHAIRS. In another building, there is a spotted African BEAR that is so fast it can outrun a WOLF.  But my favorite animal is the hippopotamus.  It has a huge HEAD and eats fifty pounds of MARKERS a day.  You would never know that, technically, it's nothing but an over sized WEARY pig. lol :)

New sacristy tale

This morning I served mass again. Fr. Raymond was the celebrant. It seems like he celebrates every Tuesday mass. Mr.Tim was the reader today. He had to leave early to take someone to the hospital. Mass starts at 8:00 A.M so the priest usually gets there at 7:58 A.M but Fr. Raymond comes in at like 8:01 A.M. he came in on time. Prepare yourself, tomorrow's sacristy tale is gonna be GREAT :) ;)

Video games

This evening, I was teaching  Paul how to play my Cars 2 video game (which he gave me for Christmas). I won 3 races. I thought he wouldn't win anything! When we were coming to the end (this was our last race) he sped RIGHT past me and won our last race! I lost it. "I WANT A REMATCH!!" I yelled. Then we raced again. It started how it usually started. Paul: last place. Me: first place. So toward the end of the race, i crashed :(, Paul took advantage. He won. He is sooo getting BEAT tomorrow

This morning...

... I was going to altar serve, but PAUL couldn't find his shoes (as usual). It was kinda different this time; he couldn't find his coat too! Then I remembered, on Saturdays he usually comes to  the back sacristy (where the altar servers get ready for mass) and left his coat there -- nobody knew! Later Dad got a phone call from Miss Paula and she said Paul had left his coat in the back sacristy! But Sunday was warm and he didn't need it; so we forgot to get it but we got it today :); now back to the sacristy tale. So we were going to be a little late. I called Dad and told him to get an alb for me. We beat him there and I got ready. Dad is usually the reader, but Mr. Mark was the reader this morning and Fr. Raymond was the celebrant. NFL playoffs AFC

The Denver Broncos beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on sunday. The Broncos won on the first play of over time, with another Tim Tebow miracle. A sixty yard pass........TOUCHDOWN!!!!

Heat update

The Heat beat the Nets 101 to 90! LeBron James had 32 points, 9  assists. Chris Bosh  had 16 points, 2 AWESOME assists. But the Heat still need D. Wade back. GOOOO HEAT

New sacristy tale

This morning, I served mass (as usual). I went to the back sacristy were we keep all the albs. I got a big surprise this morning........THE ALBS WEREN'T WHERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE!!!!!!!! The sacristan Miss Paula, told me the albs were downstairs so I got one, got ready and waited for the pastor to show up. We had benediction this morning; the pastor usually starts at 7:50 but it's supposed to start at 7:40. The pastor was late today (4 minutes 37 seconds to be exact) but he showed up, benediction started. nothing unusual happened as always. And that's todays sacristy tales.  There was also one funny thing that happened this morning before mass. I have a digital watch and it has a timer and I time myself while lighting the candles. But I set it to the countdown timer (A.K.A bomb, cause it sounds like a bomb that's beeping). So I went to light the candles, I hit "start" on my watch then I heard BEEP BEEP BEEP! So I went back in (the sacristy) lol

The Miami Heat beat the Atlanta Hawks 116 to 109 WITHOUT LeBron James AND Dwyane Wade. Chris Bosh scored a 3 pointer 0.6 seconds left to play forcing overtime in to the game. Mario Chalmers had 29 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Udonis Haslem had 14 points and 11 rebounds GO HEAT.

Vestments

This morning, before mass, Marty (the other altar server) and I were talking. The conversation went well;  then I asked Marty if the church had a priest schedule, he said "no". I told him "At my home parish, I can usually tell who the priest is by looking at the vestments" so I looked at the vestments and I said to Marty "The alb is kinda small. So the celebrant is....," he finished for me "Fr. John". I nodded. But Fr. Erik came in instead. Marty said "You were saying?". So I asked Fr. Erik if he was the celebrant today. He was. I said to Marty "I was saying"  Fr. Erik said "I have no idea  why Fr. Johns vestments were here".
