New server sacristy tale
Yesterday, Paul started serving on a Novus Ordo. Well... the Novus Ordo as Vatican II had envisioned. You know, Ad Orientem, ordinary in Latin, Communion rail. It was like a Missa Cantata. Everyone was there, except Will. So Paul was the server in training that day. During the offertory, when Danny and I were handing the cruets to the priest, (BTW Danny has never served the Novus Ordo, nor Matt) and the priest walked away, Danny just stood there while I was halfway to the credence table. But we did almost everything like a TLM. That might have been the last TLM The Pastor celebrated with us.

Danny's error just goes to show you that the offertory prayers in the Novus Ordo are merely a shadow of the ones in the TLM. In Cardinal Burke's brief video commentary (video called "The Call of Beauty", he says (at about 2:20 in the video), "The prayers at the Offertory are very rich in the 1962 Roman Missal. Those have been very much stripped down and actually changed in character in the Missal of Pope Paul VI." No wonder Danny was waiting for more.
