New sacristy tale.

It was a missa cantata again, it seems like a lot of priests like missa cantatas these days. So this morning I asked Nathan why all the missa cantatas? he said, "don't complain, celebrate!" So today we had 4 candles, Matt was cross bearer/thurifer, Paul and Will were candle bearers 3&4, Nathan was M.C, me and the seminarian (I think his name is Joe) candle bearers 1&2 and Fr. Jason celebrated. Will served his first mass on his birthday, he got to kneel in front of the altar with the candle at the consecration. At the end of mass, when we were lined up to leave the altar, I was holding the candle so I wasn't supposed to genuflect but I did. When we were back in the sacristy I said, "before anybody says something, I know I wasn't supposed to genuflect!" Stay tuned

4th of July

Last night, my family went to my cousin's house to have  a 4th of July cookout and then we went to the place where they were shooting off fireworks. Here are some videos.

In this one, the younger kids were sitting down in the grass
across the street from us. When the fireworks shot up
                                           it was pretty cool.

The noise you hear is the fireworks screaming.
                                          Pretty annoying, huh?

Awesome cat!

4th of July sacristy tale

I volunteered to serve the 4th of July with the seminarian. Seminarian John was assigned to the two parishes. He's a cool guy, and Puerto Rican just like my mom's dad. Deacon Jack was there and Fr. Raymond con-celebrated, and the new pastor, Fr. Michael, celebrated his first mass in the two parishes. He's a very good priest and he doesn't mind the week day altar server =). When mass started, I was holding the Roman Missal, for Father so I was standing right in front of him. And I thought, Wow, I'm almost taller than him!

The Pastor's farewell party.

The Pastor had a farewell party a couple days ago. Everyone who's anyone in both parishes came so the line for food was super crowded! But everyone was there. Even some of the parish school kids. I saw one of my friends on Basketball team, Renato. I was surprised to see him. Usually you never see the school kids at parish events! When I was done talking to him I went inside and The Pastor was saying his last speech. There was one story he told us when he was in another profession and he was in church (this was a couple years ago) praying when a priest came up to him and said, "do you have any ideas of becoming a priest?" And who was the priest who talked to him? Fr. Raymond. You see, Fr. Raymond had been the pastor of another parish, and then he had some kind of disease, I don't know what it was, then he had to leave. The Pastor invited him to live in our parish. Then he recovered and stayed. The Pastor's reassignment came, and Fr. Raymond became our associate pastor when Fr. Michael (our new pastor) was assigned here. God, help The Pastor on his new assignment
